The Test And Analysis Of The Difficulty Of Writing Chinese Characters Of Thai Students

In this thesis, we make a research about the question that the degree of difficulty of writing Chinese characters of Thai students from three aspects - "the number of character strokes"、 "character shapes" and "character structures". In order to solve this problem, we make a test for some students which are chosen from the affiliated elementary school of the Normal University of Ayutthaya of Thailand about copying Chinese characters. Based on the analyze of the result of the test, we come out some teaching suggestions.The thesis is divided into three major parts.In the first part, we try to introduce the rationality and feasibility of the test of the object、content and method.In the second part, based on the analysis of the research’s result about the test of "the number of character strokes" and "character structures", we introduce the degree of difficulty of writing Chinese characters of Thai students from these two aspects. And based on the homework about Chinese character writing of the Thai students, we analyze the degree of difficulty of "character shapes". Then we try to set up the "Difficulty level table of writing Chinese character ", which is mainly based on the research’s result of "the number of character strokes" and "character structures". What’s more, we make a further study about the performance of "the number of character strokes".. "character structures" and "character shapes" in the progress of writing Chinese character of Thai students.In the third part, we analyze the relationship of "Difficulty level table of writing Chinese character" and the comprehensive course teaching material and "Outline of Chinese level", and then make some suggestions about how to teach Chinese character with the help of the "Difficulty level table of writing Chinese character".Although we have tried our best to analyze the performance characteristics of "the number of character strokes"、 "character structures" and "character shapes" systematically and fully, we cannot get rid of limitations of the test of the object、content and method. However, we think that some of our suggestions based on the reasonable research could also do some help for the teaching of Chinese character in Thailand.
