Report On The Interpretation Of The 2015 Government Work Report Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

Meeting is a common way to communicate with each other. That’s the reason why the role of interpreter is becoming more and more important in meetings and conferences. The types of conference include interviews of reporters, cooperation and consultation, diplomatic meetings, etc. What I would like to discuss in this thesis is my mock consecutive interpretation of the 2015 government work report. The literature researches specificlly on the government work report are not enough, especially those of the masters and doctors.I have only found 7 related works through the CNKI.The government work report attracts attention from both academic and non-academic circle at home and abroad. So I believe that it is necessary to study and find out the interpreting strategies of government work report. It’s a great challenge for an interpreter, because the atmosphere of government work report meeting is serious, the use of language is strict, the range of concerns is widespread and every single word should be accurately translated. I believe that the practice of simulated interpretation has great guiding significance for my further study in the future. " The government work report covers a wide range of knowledge. It can effectively help the translators to broaden the knowledge and learn relative things in various fields which will directly affect the process of listening and analyzing:that is to say, the more you know, the more you can spend less time listening and analyzing information. " (Bai Dan 2013,2)Interpretive Theory was first proposed in the 1960s by the famous French translator D.Seleskovitch. The key of this theory is equivalence which is the foundation of translation.Lots of practices proved that this theory is applicable to the conference interpretation. And the triangle model of the interpretive theory has a very good instructional function to the interpretation practice.After preparation, I interpreted the 2015 China’s government work report following the guidance of triangle model. I found that letting go of the linguistic signs (deverbalizing) is a way to save time from remembering the original language form in practice. According to the problems I have encountered and official version I have compared with, I summed up five interpretation skills which are knowledge supplement, information reduction, logic processing, syntactic transformation, and affective communication. The first four strategies followed the guidance of deverbalizing, and better sense of communication. Besides that, I also analyzed some issues of three programs of the triangle model. These experiences will be very useful in the future study.
