A Practice Report On The Simulated Interpretation Of Government Work Report In 2015

The material of this practice report is the Government Work Report of 2015 presented in the Third Session of the Twelfth National People's Congress by Li Keqiang, the Premier of China's State Council. The main contents of the Government Work Report include giving an overall review of the previous year's work and putting forward an integral plan and a comprehensive deployment for the next year's government work. Government Work Report is an extremely official comment of politics. With the main target of extending information, Government Work Report is highly political. The translation and interpretation of the Government Work Report is both a demonstration window to the outside world and an important stage to enhance China's image. Therefore, it has a strong practical significance.The author wrote this paper based on her simulated Chinese to English consecutive interpretation of the Government Work Report. Combining her real situations with all kinds of problems she encountered in the interpretation process and being guided by the Interpretative Theory of Paris School, the author mainly discussed the application of Deverbalization, which is the core of the Interpretative Theory, through some examples during this process. Aimed at difficulties and problems like run-on sentences without subjects, redundant information and culture-loaded expressions appearing in the Government Work Report, the author adopted strategies and methods such as addition, omission and interpretive interpretation to achieve the goal that TL audience' s perception of target language is the same as SL audience's perception of the source language.Many problems and difficulties discussed in this practice report are ones that other students have encountered during their interpretation practices. Therefore, this report will have some implications and reference significance for student interpreters and researchers working on political interpretation.
