Internet Addicts’ Automatic Visual Search Advantage Effect On Internet Information

According to the results of the 36th report of China’s Internet network center (CNNIC), the number of Internet users in China was 668 million, an increase of 31.17 million people, Internet penetration rate is 48.8% until June 2015. The network become the necessities of modern social life, has brought great convenience to our life. The network also has a very serious problem. Internet addiction is the most common, most harmful and most difficult. The number of Internet addiction has reached 12 million until the end of 2015. Youth group is one of the largest groups from Internet addiction harm. Internet addiction have brought serious physical and mental damage to teenagers, cause learning disabilities, dropping out of school and crime. The research of mechanism of Internet addiction is imminent.The researchers found that Internet addiction and substance addiction have a lot in commons, according to the performance, diagnosis and treatment of Internet addiction. They think the mechanism of Internet addiction and the mechanism of substance addiction are similar. Some scholars believe that Internet addiction can’t called addiction, because there are no studies have shown that Internet addiction and substance addiction has the same physiological mechanism. They think Internet addiction is a kind of behavior disorders. The incentive-sensitization model think that the brain processing of the web information automation advantage, because long-term addictive information to stimulate the brain nerve. Internet addiction research also shows that internet addicts have priority processing network information. But previous research only pay attention to attentive, no attention to preattentive. Preattentive is the first stage of information processing. Preattentive is automatic and unconscious. It is better able to verify the incentive-sensitization model by explore the automatic processing of network information advantage effect of internet addiction. It can also provides the reference for the physiological mechanism of Internet addiction in the future.Visual search is a kind of important cognitive ability, according to the machining process is divided into two pattern:preattentive visual and attentive visual. At the stage of preattentive visual, the individual is according to the different of certain different characteristics to judge, is based on the characteristics of detecting of parallel processing. There is a lot of researches shown that the individual usually adopt parallel processing pattern when the stimulus materials is lines, color, direction and letter and numbers. We use visual search paradigm and three experiments to investigate the automatic detection of internet information of internet addiction. Experiment 1 explored the reaction time and accuracy of reaching target stimulus when searching pictures and words. To observe the reaction time and accuracy is affected by the number of search project or not. According to the result to judge whether participants can adopt parallel search pattern, the automatically search processing of preattentive visual stage. Experiment 2 and 3 using network images and words as search material, respectively. The purpose of Experiment 2 and experiment 3 is to prove the existence of automatically search advantage effect from the lower and higher cognitive level when internet addictions processing network informationThree experimental results as follows:(1) When the rendering time of stimulus material is 300 ms, individual search pattern of pictures and words is parallel processing mode. The distinction between pictures and words is a process of automation.(2) When the rendering time of stimulus material is 300 ms, the fixation point on the internet images significantly more than the non-internet images when internet addiction research the images.(3) When the rendering time of stimulus material is 300 ms, the fixation point on the internet words significantly more than the non-internet words when internet addiction research the images.So we come to the conclusion that internet addiction have automatic search advantage effect based on the character of network information both the low-level image processing and high level of word processing. Internet addicts is very sensitive to internet information at the preattentive stage.The conclusion reveals the incentive-sensitization model of internet addiction’s processing mechanism on internet information in theory. It can also provide the objective for the early diagnosis of Internet addiction of eye movement indicators in practice.
