Anecdotes in Motuo is another masterpiece following The Grave Robbers’Chronicles by NanPaiSanShu. Along with the advancement of the Internet all over the globe, the translation of online literature is playing an increasingly important part in cross-cultural communication.Taking grave-robbery novel as an example, the report describes the linguistic features of online literature. The language of online literature is much more colloquial compared with traditional literature. It tends to be in a more informal way of narrating which will quickly catch the readers’interest. It also describes the significance of the translation study.Online literature has been a popularized form of modern literature, the study of the translation of online literature is going to be an indispensable part of translation studies. This report discusses about the translation strategies of grave-robbery novels based on Vermeer’s Skopos theory.According to Vermeer, it must be the intended purpose of the target text that determines translation methods and strategies, that translation strategies and methods are determined by the purpose and the intended function of the target text. Different translation methods should be applied due to the text type. Guided by the main rules of Skopos theory, the report focuses on the translation methods of culture-loaded words, four-word structures and long sentences. In translating culture-loaded words, the translator must look up in the dictionary first to reach an accurate understanding of these words. In translating four-word structures, the translator may not adhere to the original form, instead, a proper substitution can be used. In translating long sentences, the translator adds or omits one or two words, combines constituents together or reverse the sentence sequence. Finally the report concludes that no matter what translation methods one applies, the skopos rule could provide a theoretical guidance. A good translation work needs a large amount of practical translation exercises. The translator should always reflect upon those difficulties and deficiencies.
