Based on the English-Chinese translation of Memorandum and Articles of Association of a BVI company, this report dissects and elaborates the translation of the-ed participle clauses and attributive clauses existing typically in the source text.Memorandum and Articles of Association is a business legal text which has formal and compact style, complex sentence structures, and a number of-ed participle clauses and attributive clauses serving as postmodifiers. Accordingly, the difficulties of the translation task are how to precisely and clearly translate such postmodifiers and how to reproduce the style of the source text. The report makes a grammatical and semantic analysis of such postmodifiers, gains a full understanding of the source text, and eventually employs the methods and strategies of following the original syntactic order, reinventing sentence structures and reframing discourses and others to give a precise translation of such postmodifiers.By translating the source text and writing this report, the author of the report acquires a deeper understanding of translation work. Meanwhile, the author puts forward some proper methods and suggestions for resolving the difficulties encountered during the translation of the source text. The author sincerely hopes such methods and suggestions can be of use for other translators’ translating the similar text afterwards.
