Application Of Gile’s Comprehension Equation In Interpretation

The past forty years have witnessed the great achievements made by China in the international community like the entry to the WTO and the successful bid for holding the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. All those great events show that China has actively engaged in the global events under the strengthened globalization. The interpreters, serving as a connecting bridge in the intercultural communication, have to face more serious challenges in the face of the advanced economic integration. Therefore, how to improve the interpreters’ professional capacity becomes an issue of great concern.The thesis is a report on the interpreting practice. Based on the writer’s own personal interpreting practice in Ningxia Yujing Food Co., Ltd. in 2015, the writer analyzes in detail how the Gile’s Comprehension Equation is applied in the specific interpreting task in terms of the Linguistic Knowledge, the Extra-linguistic Knowledge and the Analysis. At last, some advice will be given under the instruction of the Gile’s Comprehension Equation.The writer hopes to help interpreters, especially the beginners to realize the importance of the Gile’s Comprehension Equation in improving the comprehensive interpreting capacity and to learn the interpretation systematically under the instruction of the Gile’s Comprehension Equation.
