A Report On Business Contract Translation From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

This report is mainly based on the completion of the translation of Decoration and Fitment Construction Contract made by Committee of Urban and Rural Construction of Dalian and Administrative Bureau for Industry and Commerce of Dalian and Domestic Transportation Agreement made by a logistics company and its customer.The purpose and meaning of the translation of the two contracts is that under the guidance of Skopos Theory, accurately and precisely completing the translation tasks, demonstrating the rights and obligations of both parties, and convey the information from the original contract accurately and avoid impact caused by the wrong translation, so that economic activities can be carried out smoothly.In this report, the author first introduces the background, purpose and significance of the research on the translation of business contract, and then introduces the whole translation task, including the translation project, the main content and the significance of the project. The translation practice is guided by the Skopos theory and a series of rules(Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule); then the author analyzes and summarizes the original text and the translation text from the lexical and syntactical level. Finally, the author gives a conclusion of the translation practice. Under the guidance of Skopos rule, fidelity rule and coherence rule of Skopos theory, the author carries on the translation practice of business contract. Through the practice, analysis and summary, the author accumulates and summarizes some translation experiences in terms of lexical and syntactical level. But because of the limited translation level and experience, the summary has some limitations.
