A Report On The Translation Of Sports English Contract Basic Agreement

This paper is a translation report,and translation material is an English contract Basic Agreement.The report analyzes the lexical and syntactic characteristics of ports English contract,and proposes different translation strategies to different issues.As suggested by skopos theory,the purpose of translation will decide translation methods or techniques.With regard to the vocabularies,such translation strategies as literal translation,free translation plus explanation,etc.are employed;with respect to long sentences in the contract,conversion is mainly employed,namely,conversion in sentence constituents,conversion in order and conversion in sentence pattern,and addition.Finally the author summarizes the deficiencies in translation and lessons drawn form the translation practice.The author hopes that the report would serve as a reference for future translation practice.
