Translation Report On Agreement And Conditions Of PAM Sub-Contract 2006

Against the backdrop of growing economic globalization,an increasing number of Chinese enterprises begin to cooperate with foreign counterparts.It is necessary for them to sign contracts,which leads the increasing demand of the contract translation.PAM is the abbreviation for “Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia” in Malay,which means Malaysia Institute of Architects.Till May 20 th,2017,Agreement and conditions of PAM Sub-Contract 2006 is the latest edition of sub-contract in Malaysia.This paper takes part of the contract translated by the author in the actual work in Huashi(Malaysia)Sdn.Bhd as an example,guided by Peter Newmark's theory of semantic translation and communicative translation to make a preliminary study of the characteristics of morphology and syntax in the construction sub-contract and the corresponding translation methods.First,the language characteristics of construction contract are summarized by analyzing the parallel texts.Then the difficulties in the process of translation,namely the translation of technical words,reference words and synonyms as well as long sentences are discussed through analyzing morphology and syntax of the source text,followed by concluding corresponding translation methods.Finally the experience obtained from this translation practice is concluded.Hopefully,this paper will provide reference for those engaged in related translation.
