This paper is a report based on the practice of the translation of an English book.The original text of the translation project is Globalizing On-line: Telecollaboration,Internationalization, and Social Justice. This book is one of the educational technology of series, and the report is selected part of the book materials as the analysis object, and combined with the Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory and types of text classification to carry on the analysis to the problems encountered in the process of translation. At the same time, the translation of the book can also provide some assistance for teachers in the future educational activities.How to correctly understand the original is the biggest problem met in the translation. How to accurately express the information of sentences(especially long sentences) as well as the translation of the special terms need to constantly ponder and think. According to Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory, and combining with the translation material, this paper carries on the analysis from the terminology translation, contextual understanding, translation of long sentences and the correction of translation to make the version more fluent. The author can understand and master the translation theory better through translation practice and analysis of relevant cases. As a result, the author will analyze the text from the perspective of communicative translation theory in this paper.This report is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the background information of the translation project and the framework of the report.The second chapter is a brief introduction of the translation theory. The third chapter describes the translation process, including preparation, translation and revision process. The fourth chapter is the analysis of the translation and translation difficulties.The fifth chapter is the summary of translation.
