This article is an English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation report. It is based on the 2013 Pearl S. Buck Cultural Exchange Activities, Zhenjiang, China. The theme of this event is Dialog between Two Civilizations: The difference between China and Western Cultures. Seven leaders, experts, scholars at home and abroad delivered speeches, including three Chinese speeches and four English speeches. This report focuses on the analysis and summary of the whole process of interpreting. Under the guidance of Peter Newmark’s communicative theory, the author analyzed the interpretation cases, then explored interpretation skills. Besides, this report includes the problems occurred during the interpreting practice and relevant solutions.This report consists of four main parts. The first part is task description, which introduces the aim, content and meaning of this practice. The second part is case analysis which includes problems and interpretive strategies used in this practice. The third part is the discussion of interpretation skills, which explained how Peter Newmark’s communicative theory guided the practice. The fourth part is summary, summing up the experiences gained in this practice.The author improves her understanding of interpretation during this practice.
