Vocabulary is the key building material of a language, so it is the foundation of a language.During the teaching practice I found that learners in language listening, speaking, reading and writing in all aspects vocabulary is the most complex part.This is because of the student’s negative influence by their mother tongue and also poor translation of the vocabulary. I realized apart from the language environment, students have difficulties in grasping its true meaning. So I read some of the articles by experts and scholars on the context about language environment and some of the contextual theories. I have read some of these theories and the experience of teaching Chinese as a foreign language in order to obtain effective teaching. The most important contents of my thesis are divided into five chapters. First is the introduction that mainly expounds the relationship between the context, context teaching and vocabulary teaching. The previous studies are then summarized on this basis; it helps expound the writer’s research methods and innovative points. In the second chapter, the writer introduces the general situation of Kenyan Chinese Academy which is based on my teaching practice and also the general situation of teaching and of the learners. In the third chapter I analyzed the reasons why the vocabulary teaching method is an important method of teaching in kenya.Fourth chapter from the context and other related examples I am able to give detailed and analyzed information. The fifth chapter is to explain how to set up the exercises to make the students remember after learning a certain vocabulary. I hope that from my short lived teaching practice in Kenya I can provide a reliable contribution in spreading the Chinese culture.
