| Objective:To formulate students’ grit table as a tool to evaluate the level of College Students’ grit;to investigate the current situation of College Students’ grit level; and to explore the relationship between College Students’ grit and academic achievement. Methods:Taking the college students as the research object, the data were collected by questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews.(1) To formulate the scale: Through literature review, expert consultation and semistructure interview method to determine predictive scale; pretesting 360 students, analysing the scale item’ discrimination and discriminative power, and carry out the exploratory factor analysis, getting the formal scale; second testing the 900 students, undertaking the grit table’ reliability and validity, including confirmatory factor analysis.(2) Investigation: Using the self-made general questionnaire, college students’ grit table and the academic achievement scale of students, to investigate 900 graduates’ grit and academic achievement status, using independent samples t test, analysing the difference of demographic variables about College Students’ grit. Using correlation analysis and regression analysis, to explore the relationship between College Students’ willpower and academic achievement.Results:(1) The scale’ Cronbach’s a is 0.860, and the Cronbach’s a of each dimension respective is 0.869, 0.775, 0.774, 0.770, 0.759, 0.733, they all greater than 0.7. Confirmatory factor analysis results show that the index of x2/dfã€RMRã€CFIã€GFIã€AGFIã€RMSEA respective were 4.43, 0.05, 0.90, 0.90, 0.87, 0.07, have reached the acceptable standard.(2) The total score and every dimension score of College Students’ grit were, in order,80.939±11.179, 21.23±3.73, 13.05±2.92, 14.70±2.73, 12.30±3.19, 9.19±2.34, 10.46±2.42.(3) The students’ grit in gender(t=2.32, P < 0.05), students(t=2.44, P < 0.05), whether only(t = 2.49, P < 0.05), whether student cadres(t=1.98, P < 0.05), parental rearing pattern(F=4.98, P < 0.01) has a statistically significant difference, in the professional andage does not exist significant difference.(4) The relationship between the grit and academic achievement of college students(r=0.514); R2=0.263, explain the grit of college students to explain 26.3% of the variance of academic achievement.Conclusion:(1) The self-formulate college students’ grit table has good reliability and validity. The results show that the scale can be used as a reference tool for measuring college students’ grit.(2)The level of college students’ grit needs to be improved. The total score of college students’ grit and the scores of each dimension are on average and only above the level slightly; the tenacity is the highest score, and the decisiveness is the lowest point.(3) Gender, origin, whether the only child, whether the student cadre and family education ways have influence on college students’ grit, professional and age have no influence on college students’ grit.(4) There is a relationship between grit the academic achievement, and grit have a good positive predictive effect on academic achievement, that is means that the grit more stronger, the academic achievement more higher. |
