Hotels in China develop very fast along with the increasingly number of people from all over the world visiting China in recent years. The English translation of hotel profiles becomes an important link between the hotels and the foreign consumers as it is the publicity material of the hotels. However, inappropriate translation has much bad influence not only on fostering good company images but also on the long-term development of the hotels. In view of this, some scholars have studied the translation of hotel profiles basically in two ways in recent years. The first approach is to study the hotel profiles mainly with the guidance of two translation theories, which are Skopos theory and Text Typology theory. The second approach is to study them without translation theories, mainly analyzing the linguistic errors in the translated hotel profiles. However, the theories applied are too limited and it needs further research. This thesis took the theory of Eco-translatology as the theoretical framework, seeking to open up a new theoretical perspective for studying on hotel profiles translation. It contrasted the hotel profiles in China and abroad and tried to find the differences between the two languages in language, content, culture and society, probe into the reasons accounting for the differences, and find out the hotel profiles’ eco-environments of the two languages. Then, the thesis analyzed how the translator adapted and selected according to the “three-dimensional selective adaptation and adaptive selection” theory, and how the translator-centeredness in the translational eco-environment was reflected. In order to make a successful selection of hotel profiles translation, the author tried to propose three translation methods in order to realize the translator’s three-dimensional transformation, which are addition, omission and rewriting. Finally, the author made a conclusion that the Eco-translatology theory is applicable and had feasibility in analyzing the hotel profiles translation...
