Sub-logeme-based Model For The Description Of Literary Translation Process

After a brief review of the previous studies in translation process modeling, this thesis proposes a new model, which demonstrates more about its applicability and compatibility in dealing with a variety of literary writings. And actually, a new definition “Sub-Logeme” suggested in this thesis equips ourselves with a complete set of translating tools in addressing possibly all the complex problems in the literary discourse translating.To translate so many sorts of the “Sub-Logemes” effectively into a target language, we can never be immune from using the ways of paraphrasing, viz. the methodology of interpretation. As a result of the introduction of the definition “Sublogeme”, translation critics are also able to evaluate and comment on any translated versions of a literary work in a more quantifiable manner rather than offering some points of view wrapped with many quotations from a pile of the great books or literatures in an effort to prove swaggeringly what he/she said. In fact, a book review of this kind seems the reflection of divergent thinking from some vague impressions after the critic read it without any measurable support including the empirical evidence and quantitative statistics directly coming from the book itself.This thesis offers a quantifiable way to analyze a variety of modifiers which scatter about in a discourse seemingly in a discrete and disordered manner.But the introduction of new definitions such as “Sub-logeme”makes it possible and shows the promising prospect of the relevant studies including the new building of a new translation process model which is proved to be one of the applications based on such a definition pair formed by Logeme and Sub-logeme.
