The source text is Chapter 2 of Literature in Language Education by Geoff Hall. In this book, the author offers an account of existing research and practice about literature in language education, aiming at stimulating further researches and pedagogic innovation concerning literature and language education. The book is chosen for its academic value and practical significance in language education.Guided by the semantic translation and communicative translation theory proposed by Peter Newmark, the report focuses on the translation of “interactional metadiscourse”, making an endeavor to deliver the writer’s interactional and promotional inputs to the target language reader. This report proves that, in translating academic texts, the conveying of writers’ interactional inputs is as important as the delivering of information.The report is composed of four parts, they are introduction, description of the translation process, case analysis and conclusion.
