As populization of internet and development of international economic globalization, China communicates and cooperates with other countries more and more frequently. In order to promote international exchanges and cooperation, many Chinese-version websites have set up their corresponding English-version websites. Therefore, website translation as a new branch of translation field has attracted much more attention in recent years. This report, based on the author’s C-E translation practice of the website of China-Japan Friendship Hospital and guided by Adaptation Theory, summarizes and analyzes difficulties in the translation process from lexical, syntactic and textual levels as well as gives corresponding solutions. The report points out that the translation should adapt to norms of the English language. To be specific, in the process of translating medical terminologies, proper nouns and abbreviations, it is of importance to refer to parallel texts and background information so as to improve acceptability of translations. As for translation of non-subject, paratactic or long sentences, the key point is to clarify semantic logic of sentences and then to reorganize them properly in the target text. At textual level, cohesion can be achieved by adding appropriate connectives, while coherence be achieved by adjusting the sequence of sentences or adding related information. In order to adapt to norms of English language, four translation techniques including division, combination, addition and shift are frequently used in Chinese-English website translation. By studying the translation of hospital website, the report is expected to provide valuable suggestions for the translator engaged in hospital website or other website translation.
