This thesis is a C-E translation report with its source text from the website of Mount Huangshan of China.It mainly consists of the introduction to Mount Huangshan,its culture and the six main scenic areas.As tourism website text,the source text is very practical,but it encompasses plenty of the names of scenic spots,poems,quotations,Chinese four-character expressions,zero-subject sentences and gaudy sentences.If the source text is not translated appropriately,target readers will have difficulty in understanding the translation.More and more attention has been paid to tourism translation as tourism industry is booming at home and abroad with the development of economic globalization.The easy availability of Internet makes the translation of tourism website texts increasingly important.The author of the report firstly analyzes the source text from the perspective of language,syntactic features as well as culture and then explores the characteristics of tourism text and translation of tourism websites texts.Next,the author concludes the translation difficulties caused by differences in culture and discourse and finally applies abstraction translation,edited translation,condensed translation,adaptation translation and explanatory translation in the process of the translation to practice under the guidance of Translation Variation Theory.Domestic study shows that the translation of tourism texts should give prominence to the equivalence of information and function between the source texts and target texts instead of being limited to formal equivalence.Tourism website texts not only share common features of tourism texts but also have their own characteristics.Translation Variation Theory emphasizes that translators can make adaptations according to special needs of specific readers under specific conditions.Therefore,Translation Variation Theory can guide the translation of the source text from the website of Mount Huangshan.Based on the analysis of the source text,the author of this report adopts various translation methods in the light of Translation Variation Theory so as to achieve similar impact between the target readers with the original readers.
