A factor causing pressure for the interpreters, accent is prevalent in an increasingly diversified working environment. At the same time, such other factors as numbers, long and complex sentences, extra-linguistic knowledge and coordination also have an effect on interpreting performance. The thesis aims to find effective coping strategies for Simultaneous Interpretation(SI), with a stress on Indian English. Two practices were conducted to reach this end. The purpose of the first practice is to identify the source of pressure-the elements that bring troubles to SI. In fifteen days after the first practice, a number of coping tactics were practiced to enhance the capability to handle the disturbing factors. After that, the second practice was carried out to evaluate how effective they are.It can be seen from the outcome of the practice, excessive effort on comprehension turns out to be the major difficulty in interpreting an accented speech. In order to better prepare for the tasks that involve accented speeches, one needs to familiarize himself or herself with the accent of the country that the clients come from.Learning the phonetic characteristics and being exposed to the relevant audio materials will be of help because in this scenario less effort will be spent on listening and analysis whereas more will be used for reproduction of the message. In addition, other factors, such as numbers, language and translation skills and coordination are also analyzed to pave the way for future practice.
