Confucius Institutes in Unite States develop in a high speed, and it reflects on not only the total amounts but also the developing scales. As one of the fastest developing academies among the world, Unite States’ Confucius Institutes have already set a supreme model for observing, imitating and learning. Although abiding with honor and good reputations, Confucius Institutes in Unite States still dwell in the their growth stage currently and need to prepare for problems and challenges. Finding out existing problems and challenges which embeds in daily operations and managements, concluding precious experiences which generated form the process of Chinese teaching and Chinese culture transmitting, as well as coming up with wisely improvement countermeasures deserves greatly significance for Confucius Institutes’sustainable development. This paper locates its perspective on solutions for series important questions:What’s the outcome of cultural communication, which is held by Unite States’ Confucius Institutes; The characteristics of cultural communication activities in Unite States’ Confucius Institutes; The appropriate ways to promoting the sustainable development of cultural communication activities in Unite States’Confucius Institutes.Methods based on analyzing database and Case study are two main researching means in this paper; this paper also benefits from the combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis. Firstly, with the assistance of Minzu University of China’s "database about Confucius Institutes", this paper collects, arranges and accounts data about cultural communication activities, and analysis the frequency of corresponding fields, trends, types as well as common phenomenon. In addition, this paper takes the Confucius institute in University of Oregon as a researching objective. This paper records first-hand information about the development of cultural communication activities by experiencing and observing at the real places. Finally, the paper summarizes the characteristics of presenting cultural communication activities in Unite States’ Confucius Institutes, applies considerations about cultural communication activities in Unite States’ Confucius Institutes and suggestions for further developing as well.This article divides itself in six chapters. The first chapter is Introduction. The second chapter discusses about the current situation of Confucius institute development. The third chapter argues the types of communication activities, cultural communication activities’ scale, cultural communication activities’ audience and the media influence of cultural communication activities in Confucius institutes. The fourth chapter displays a case study, which mainly demonstrates the development and experience about cultural communication activities holding in university of Oregon’s Confucius. The fifth chapter is about the research conclusion and reflections. And conclusion contributes as the last chapter. This article holds an important opinion:tremendous successes have been made by Unite States’ Confucius Institutes so far, and the experience is worth to be observed and learned by Confucius Institutes in other areas. This article also provides 4 suggestions, which could facilitate the processes of developing cultural communication activities in Confucius Institutes, and the suggestions is displayed as following bellows:cultural communication activities and language teaching deserves a mutual promoting and developing; Cultural communication activities should pay attentions on conducting reputations in certain domains; cultural transmitting should combined with native cultural; the more elites dedicating themselves in this business, the better cultural communication activities could be.
