With the constant development of the comprehensive national strength of China., foreign people’s enthusiasm for learning Chinese hit new high. At the same time, a "Mandarin fever" phenomenon has been formed gradually. The Confucius Institutes established by Hanban plays a very important role in teaching Chinese language. So far, Hanban has built475Confucius Institutes in126countries and regions. Besides teaching Chinese language, Spreading Chinese culture is another important mission of the Confucius Institutes.Italy has a long history.Rome, the capital, is also known as "the eternal city" Citizens of the city of Rome value the communication between Italian culture and Chinese culture. The Confucius Institute of Rome,as the first Confucius Institute established in Italy, has made great contribution to the Chinese language education and the Chinese culture promotion. The Confucius Institute of Rome often organized cultural activities to satisfy the students’need for understanding Chinese culture. However, the organization of the activities was in lack of purpose because The Confucius Institute hasn’t conducted an empirical investigation so far.In order to understand the students’ attitudes towards the cultural activites organized by the Confucius Institute of Rome and to provide reference to the organization of the cultural activites in the future.the author writes this paper after conducting an empirical investigation based on the5W model theory of Lasswell. The paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is introduction. The author briefly describes the research background, significance and methods. The second chapter is literature review. The author summarizes the theories of cultural communication, the relationship between Confucius Insitutes and culture and the organization of cultural activites in Confucius Insitutes. The third chapter is the summary of the cultural activities of the Confucius Insitute of Rome. The author makes a list of the cultural activities in recent one year and analyzes the location, content and forms of the activities. Most of the cultural activities are lectures held in the headquarters of the Confuciues Insitute of Rome. The content is wide-ranging, but the topic of the comtemporary Chinese culture is barely discussed. The author also talks about the teachers of the Confucius Institute of Rome in this chapter. The fourth chapter is the study one the students’attitudes towards the cultural activities organized by the Confucius Institute of Rome. The author analyzes the students’background, students’attitudes towards the content of the activites, students’ attitudes towards the forms of the activities, the publicity and students’feedback. It can be concluded that students in different learning level or at different ages have different preference regarding the content and forms of the activites. The Workshop is the favorite form of activities choosed by students. The fifth chapter is a case of the Workshop activities organized by the Confucius Institute of Rome. The author summarizes the organization of a workshop activity in May2014and makes an analysis after interviewing two organizers of the Workshop. The sixth chapter is the conclusion.Through the analysis of the investigation result, the author puts forward six advices about the organization of cultural activities:"looking for new places to hold activities and cooperating with the community","choosing cultural activities content according to different students’ ages and learning levels","showing different kinds of films ","organizing more workshops activities","broaden the channels of publicity","ask for students’ feedback after holding an activity".The author also puts foward suggestions on the Workshop activities in three periods:"before the activity","during the activity" and "after the activity". Before the Workshop, the organizers should set a registration for the activity, supervise the publicity process, broaden the channels of publicity, check the materials, make a clear division of work, prioritize the content and do the rehearsal. During the Workshop, the teacher should pay more attention to the interaction with students and a teacher who can speak Italian fluently should be present. After the Workshop, teachers should ask for students’ feedback, keep the students’ contact information for further use and emphasize the theme of the activity series.
