Research On Practise-Carving

Practice-Carving(习刻)is a kind of inscriptions carved on tortoise shell and animal bones for practicing carving.This article attempted to introduce arrange and research Practice-Carving. The content is divided into the following sections:In the first chapter, the article defined the concept of “Practice-Carving" and introduced the predecessors’ researches, finally pointed out the deficiency in the research of Practice-Carving.The second chapter is the classification of Practice-Carving. The article introduced the predecessors’ classification, then reclassified Practice-Carving. The article divided Practice-Carving into four kinds: Ganzhi Practice-Carvings, Calligraphy Practice-Carvings, Inscription Practice-Carvings and other sort of Practice-Carvings.The third chapter is the research of Ganzhi Practice-Carvings. This paper introduced the quantity, type and characteristics of Ganzhi Practice-Carvings, and then analyzed the special cases, and so on.The fourth chapter is the research of Animal-Pictogram in Practice-Carvings.The paper analyzed the number,category and characteristics of Animal-Pictogram in Practice-Carvings,and then analyzed the phenomenon of“Homology of characters and paintings”(书画同源)by observing the pictogram of“the Ape Drawing”(人猿图).The fifth chapter is the introduction of “Teaching-and-Learning System”. The paper introduced the relationship between foretellers and carvers. Then the paper demonstrated the evidence of “Teaching-and-Learning System”.The sixth chapter introduced the deficiencies and prospects of this article.
