A Study On The Use Of Interpretive Theory In Conference Interpreting

At the backdrop of globalization, foreign exchanges between different countries are becoming increasingly frequent, so conference interpreting has been widely used in many foreign affairs. Consequently, it has become a hotspot in translation studies. In the meantime, as a significant theory, the Interpretive Theory was put forward by the Paris School, ideas of which including the three levels and the process of interpreting have produced profound influence on interpreting study.The article mainly makes studies on the application of Interpretive Theory in conference interpreting. It is divided into five chapters. The first part makes an introduction of the background and meaning of the research as well as the overall structure. The second chapter makes an elaboration on the definition and classification of conference interpreting along with basic views, three levels and stages of interpreting. At the same time, research overview of conference interpreting under the guidance of Interpretive Theory home and abroad is briefly summarized. The third part makes an illustration of material resources as well as research purpose, topics, analytical framework and steps. The fourth chapter represents the discussion section. After making an analysis of Premier Li’s Press Conference 2013, the author mainly expounds the application of three interpreting strategies in conference interpretation and makes specific analysis of this conference. The last part is summarization, which illustrates key findings and related implications.Although there have been many researches on interpretation in the translation industry domestically and overseas, writings summarizing the application of interpreting tactics under the Interpretive Theory by virtue of plenty of translation examples are few. Therefore, under the framework of this theory, the research of the translation case of Premier Li’s Press Conference 2013 features theoretical and practical significance alike.
