The Study Of Consecutive Interpreting Strategies From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

In recent decades,with comprehensive national strength is growing by the day,our country is playing a very important role in the international society.As a result,China and the rest of world have frequent exchanges and cooperation in many areas.Due to this,various international activities,press conferences on both business cooperation and cultural exchanges are organized and participated in our country.These large conferences cannot be run without the interpreters' professional and high quality on-site interpretation.As we all know,simultaneous interpreting and consecutive interpreting are the two most frequently used forms of interpretation in large conferences for now.But due to the high equipment requirements of simultaneous interpretation,consecutive interpretation is far more frequent than the other one,which imperceptibly enhances the importance of the consecutive interpretation.The Interpretive Theory regards interpretation as a communicative activity.And the significance of interpretation lies in the extraction and expression of content of speeches.This idea plays a great role in ensuring the quality of consecutive interpreting.Therefore,the Interpretive Theory shows great importance in guiding the conference interpretation.This thesis takes the Interpretive Theory as the theoretical basis and introduces its concept,the translation object and the translation process.In addition,this thesis combines the characteristics and standards of consecutive interpretation,taking the report of 2015 Premier Li Keqiang meeting press during “two sessions” as the text to analyze the common strategies of interpreting words and sentences.These strategies including general interpreting skills of amplification,omission and zero translation and specific interpreting skills of literal translation with notes,image replacement,interpretive translation and adjustment of logical structure.Through the analysis of this thesis,we can draw the conclusion that the Interpretive Theory plays an important role in conveying the source language into target language accurately and completely and improving the quality of interpretation.
