On the ground of deepened reform and opening up in the 21 century, Xi Jinping put forward the strategic “One Belt and One Road Initiative”. Regarded as an important border and bridgehead to the Central Asian countries,Xinjiang has been exerting great efforts to seize the opportunity and enhance communication with countries along the Silk Road, in the political,economical,theoretical and other areas.These Intercultural Communications inevitably lead to a surge of translation demand and higher requirement for translators when it comes to a high diplomatic level. The writer himself joined such an activity working as an interpreter.This articlemakes an analytic summary of the interpreting process. This practice reportis mainly based on an interpreting activity called “The 3rd Silk Road Economic Belt Cities Cooperation and Development Forum 2015”, which was held in Urumqiby the Foreign Affairs Office of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regionfrom July 22 thto July 26 th. Many political officials, businessmen and international organization members from over 20 countries participated in this forum. During this meeting, as an interpreter for the mayorof Sadat, the writer accomplished tasks including escort interpreting at the banquet and consecutive interpretation at the forum.This practice report is mainly based on the Interpretative Theory and is divided into four parts. The first part is an introduction of the interpreting tasks involved, including the background of the tasks and the major characteristics of them.The second part deals with preparatory work and other related preparations.The third part focuses on the interpreting theory to be employed for the analysis of the practice.The fourth part is a detailed analysis of the interpreted products involved in the interpretive activities under discussion. The fifth part reflects upon the good points and shortcomings of the whole interpreting process.Through this interpreting activity, the writer realizes that the quality of practice depends on the level of our command of the languages involved and our field knowledge, and the Interpretative Theory also helps to a certain degree. Only by gaining a good understanding of the theory and a great amount o practice can we interpret well.
