The Images Of Intellectuals In The Works Of Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev

Russian intellectual is an important carrier of the Russian ideology and culture, as well as the special product of Russian social development. Russian historical development and Russian intellectual are inseparable. The Russian intellectual has played an important role in the previous social changes because of strong sense of mission and social morality.Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev, an outstanding Russian literary master of realism, was the first influential Russian writer in 19 th century in Europe. With keen social perception, skilled depiction method and the principle of realism, Turgenev describes significant social events and the typical images in his works. Russian intellectual is an important subject in his works.In Turgenev’s works, especially in his six well-known novels, the author describes a series of vivid and different images. In this paper, firstly, the intellectuals are discussed and divided into noble and civilian intellectual s from two aspects —social life and love. Secondly, the paper analyzes the origins of the creation of the image of intellectuals based on the social background, personal experiences and philosophical and political opinions of Turgenev. Lastly, the intellec tuals are analyzed from description of their appearance, language, psychological, and interpretation spokesmen.
