Turgenev was the representative of the Russian Westernizers in the mid-19th century. His Westernizers' thoughts deserves attention. This paper, starting from Turgenev's novel<Smoke>,attempts to reveal the true face of Turgenev's 'Westernizers' thoughts by focusing on the 'Westernizers' factors reflected in<Smoke>,as well as the debates on<Smoke>by Herzen and Dostoevsky, the important thinkers at that time. This paper also pays attention to the far-reaching and wide-ranging influence of Turgenev's Westernizers' thoughts at home and abroad. As for Russia,Turgenev took Western Europe as a yardstick,in his objective and calm realistic writing,he showed his'Westernizers' thoughts and left valuable wealth to Russian realistic literature.Secondly, the so-called "East-West Integration" in his 'Westernizers' thoughts, which advocates Russia's going to the West and links Russia with the West, has influenced the literary criticism and literary writing of a group of writers who pondered the fate of Russia.Even in the "Silver Age" of Russian literature, the factor of Turgenev's 'Westernizers' thoughts still has far-reaching echoes and carries on a dialogue with the "Silver" poets. In addition,Turgenev's'Westernizers' thoughts became the gospel of Russian diaspora literature and the spiritual home for them to survive abroad. For foreign countries,Turgenev,as a great scholar of 'Westernizers',advocated that Russian literature should go to Europe and strive to establish the connection between Russian literature and Western literature.During his sojourn abroad,he externalized his'Westernizers' thoughts into extensive literary exchanges with scholars from various countries and various literary influences, thus promoting the communication between Russian literature and Western literature, which is the most prominent influence of his"Westernizers" thoughts on world literature.
