Turgenev And The Creation Of Nobility Complex

By now, Turgenev and his works have been thoroughly studied by scholars both at home and abroad, concerning every aspect of his factual life, mental world and anything related to his writing. Born to an aristocratic family, Turgenev has his own unique complex feelings towards the aristocratic life. The images of several typical and representative aristocratic characters from his works are employed to serve as the basic data of the present paper.In this thesis, the history of aristocratic culture and Turgenev's real life experience are taken into full consideration to better the analysis and the explanation of Turgenev's complex feelings towards the aristocratic life: hatred, appreciation, sympathy, and some helplessness as well. This particular kind of complex feelings towards the aristocratic world is reflected strongly and thoroughly in his daily life and in his writing, which has long been recognized to symbolize Turgenev'works.
