The Government Performance, Official Incorruptibility And Political Trust: A Survey Based On The College Students

Political trust issue，which is the classical issue of the politics analysis，becomes thehottest researching area of politics. From the perspective of reality，political trust is theinner base of the political instability，also the political capital of nation stability and theimportant condition of political positive operation. Currently，political trust and politicalstability are the important problems in transitional China，lots of worldwide scholarsbegin to concern for political trust. The political identity of college student has greateffects to the future of China，which can reflect the situation of the political identity ofChina。As the members of the highly and systematically educated group，college studentscan get more propaganda political education，in contrast with ordinary person，they mayhave higher level of political identity and political trust，but according to the latestresearch，college students show much extent of political apathy. Especially the recentevents，such as government officials’ luxury watches, inelegant videos and the ShanxiHousing sister Event，all these anti-corruption on internet，which is a hot focus in public，are weakening the political trust of college students. This paper mainly studies in thefactors influencing the college students’ political trust besides to official corruption.Besides，we try to research the whole political identity of the nation by studying thepolitical identity of college students.This paper uses survey research and quantitative research methods, and extracted NUniversity students to receive their data on the level of political trust through randomsampling method. Based on such a large sample survey data, this paper analyzes thecurrent situation of college students’ political trust objectively and the factors affectingtheir political trust through quantitative analysis. The study will treat the extent ofstudents’ political trust as the dependent variable, and the clean politics, governmentperformance, media influence, social trust, and political socialization as the independentvariable. Use SPSS19.0software to analyze the survey data, then use the principalcomponent analysis method to measure factors influencing the students’ political trust, weextracted12common factors. Through its regression analysis, college Students’ political trust mainly is affected by eight factors, which contain officials incorruptibility, socialtrust, government performance, the Independent Commission Against culture, householdincome, political affiliation and clean system. Among them, there are four independentvariables—officials honest, household income, government performance and integrityof the system positively correlated the to the dependent variable. The other fourindependent variables and the dependent variable was negatively correlated. The resultsof this paper and the research hypotheses match. The current college students’ politicaltrust presents complex situation, there are obvious differences in different areas of trust.The overall situation is the highly trust and highly distrust coexist. They pay high degreeof trust in the central government and the government’s ability of developing economicand society, However，their show different extent of distrust in officials and government’smanagement level and some specific government affairs. College students show muchmore trust in government than in government officials, they pay great trust in thegovernment performance.
