The police is the main power to ensure the normal operationof state,the state is give it many powers. The supervision of police enforcement has varietyof subject. As a common presence in the social citizens, civilian oversight of policingis the most widely supervision, which plays an important role in police enforcement.However, the civilian oversight of policing in our county does not form effectivemechanism. The civilian oversight of policing often becomes a mere formality, whichlack of legal and institutional basis. The foundation of oversight has not played itsrole. Compare to western countries, they are mostly established civilian oversight ofpolicing system, this situation promote us to establish the civilian oversight ofpolicing system as soon as possible. This form combines with other forms thatbecome comparable effort. We do this not only to protect people’s legitimate rightsand interests, but also to supervision the police enforcement.This paper has three parts. The first part introduces the basic theory of the oversightof policing. Firstly the connotation of his civilian oversight of policing and its featuresand necessity are made clear. Finally introduce the civilian oversight of policing inBritish. Secondly this part mainly explains the current state of the civilian oversight ofpolicing, detailing the main form of the civilian oversight of policing in our county,and indicate the shortcomings. Finally, it indicates to improve the civilian oversight ofpolicing mechanisms, it points out the main principles to improve the civilianoversight mechanisms. In addition, it puts forward several suggestions to improve thecivilian oversight of policing. Specifically including four respects: to enhance citizens’consciousness of supervision, establish and improve the relevant laws and regulationsof the civilian oversight of policing, and the related system of the civilian oversight ofpolicing.
