The complex relationship of two nationality in Czechoslovakia is tightly linked with their history and political development. The character of a nationality is deeply influenced by the history. This article tries to summarize the historical factors for the contradiction of the two nationalities by narrating the national relationships in Czechoslovakia. Czechs and Slovaks both belong to Slavdom,but they had experienced entirely different fates and showed differences in various aspects. After the first World War, they cooperated to establish a common country. But the policies of the bourgeois government had a great influence on the national relationship. As a result, national estrangement arise. During World War Ⅱ,Czechoslovakia was occupied and divided into two states by Nazi Germany. Czech and Slovak people were engaged in the struggle against fascism. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, the struggle for national independence won. Czechoslovakia became a socialist country,Czech and Slovak people living together again. This paper focuses on the national policy and national relations influenced by the CPC. The drastic changes in Eastern Europe and the third wave of democratization lead to the Czechoslovak political transformation. National contradiction of Czechoslovakia is irreconcilable as a consequence of historical factors, reality factors, internal factors,international factors. In1993,Czechoslovakia was divided into two countries peacefully,also called Velvet Divorce.
