With the promotion of normalization and Deinstitutionalization, research on community-based service for the intellectual disabled is under discussed. Service mode has been transformed from a traditional style of care to focus on the needs of caregivers of persons with intellectual disabilities and improve their quality of life, finally to achieve the goal of social integration. Community-based service model provide community living skills training for adults with intellectual disabilities and develop a variety of lifestyle choices to make them live more independently. In addition, the service model gives its service subjects rights to make a decision; only in this way can they live a normal life with dignity.This research takes Z organization as an example from the perspective of normalization to explore the institutional settings and service implementation process so as to present the service values, service contents, as as well as the challenges and the problems of the community-based service. The first chapter introduces the research background, research question, research significance and research methods. Literature review respectively from the service models and concepts for the adults with intellectual disability in the west countries and in the Chinese mainland, the regulations and policies of adults of intellectual disabilities, describe the current research results in the field of adult persons with intellectual disabilities to propose the research framework. The third chapter takes Z organization as an example to introduce the current situation of community-based service. The forth chapter analyzes the performance of community-based service from the perspective of normalization. The fifth chapter summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of community-based service model; Chapter VI is a summary and discussion.Innovation of this paper is the first attempt to analyze the performance of the community-based service for people with intellectual disabilities from the perspective of normalization and from eight aspects of normalization to explore the advantages and disadvantages of community-based service model.
