The Investigation Of The Taiyuan Disabled Social Support Status And Its Influencing Factors

Purpose:To understand the status and characteristics of disabled people of Taiyuan;To explore the influencing between locus of control, the level of self acceptance,traitcoping style on disabled people of Taiyuan’s social support.Object:Disabled people were selected from a school in Taiyuan as research subjects, using clustersampling method.Methods:In this study, survey research was conducted to study. Disabled people in a occupationlschool in Taiyuan were administered questionnaires which are " Social Support Revalued Scale","Internality， powerful others and opportunities scale ","Self Acceptance Questionnaire","Trait Coping Sty le Questionnaire ".Results:Survey findings:1. The disabled people’ average score of social support is37.45±8.083，with the highestscore is55and the lowest score is21.2. There was no significant difference of the total score of social support in gender, age,disability’age, job situation, the reason of disability, while there are significant differences incategories of disability, level of disability, marital status, education condition, economiccondition.（F=12.206，P<0.01；F=16.439，P<0.01；F=14.338，P<0.01；F=6.302，P<0.01；F=5.35，P<0.01）.3. Each dimension of locus of control and social support dimensions showed a significantcorrelation; The level of self acceptance and social support dimensions showed a significant correlation;The trait of coping style and social support dimensions showed a significantcorrelation.4. The factor analysis was been used to analysis the influencing factors of social support.the opportunities, the influence of others named the external control as factor1; self acceptance,internal control named the internal control as factor2, the positive coping, negative coping style,self evaluation of named coping style as factor3.Conclusion:1. The social support status of disabled people has been strongly influenced by the effectsof severe disability;2. Disabled people’s social support is not influenced by the external objective things, butalso influenced by the psychological state of mind;3. Demographic variables has little influence on disabled people’s subjective socialsupport,utilization of social support;while mental elements like the level of self acceptance,coping style strongly influenced disabled people’s subjective social support,utilization of socialsupport;4. Different disability has great influence on the psychological characteristics of thedisabled.
