In recent years, the think tank in the United States played an important role in thepolitical life. With the gradual development of Sino-US relations, more and more of theUnited States think tanks begin to study on China. Behind the Sino-US game, theinfluences of the Brookings Institution were everywhere. Facts have proved that the thinktank, existed nearly a century, dominate the policies and attitudes toward China of UnitedStates Government many times in history. However, domestic scholars focus only on thesurface of the Brookings Institution; rarely make their deep research, which is a greatpity.This article is based on review of the development of the U.S. think tanks, focuseson the study of the situation in China at the Brookings Institution, starting from theorganization and content of the Research Society of China, by listing a large number offacts and data to two generations of American government China policy adjustmentprocess as an example, analyzes its impact on Sino-US relations and the impact pathway.Finally, we settled on the Enlightenment of American think tank on China’s foreignaffairs, and make some suggestions for the development of China’s think tanks.The ultimate aim of this paper is expected due to domestic political and academicresearch interests of the U.S. think tank, especially mainstream think tanks. Treat tracktwo diplomacy as an opportunity,to strengthen Sino-US unofficial dialogue andcooperation, to further promote the development of friendly Sino-US relations. Also hopeto increase our levels of government non-profit think tank concerned with investment,establish and improve mechanisms for policy advice to improve the level of scientificand democratic decision-making, in order to cope with various problems and challenges,and enhance China’s soft power to do a comprehensive its due contribution.
