The Analysis Of Intergenerational Transmission Of Poverty Culture

After the reform and opening up,with the rapid development of Chinese economy,society and culture,an increasingly marketdriven competition,national standard of living,quality continues to improve,social division between rich and poor is also growing.Especially in Chinese urban society,the poor at bottom of society and the upper are in stark contrast,the poor at the bottom of the social are often live and work together due to various reasons,for example,modern city has the "village", "shanty town", "slum",etc.The paper based on Lewis’ theory of the culture of poverty,a large number of poor people living together will form a unique culture within this group,called the "culture of poverty",including behavioral habits,ideas,values,etc.The culture has propagation characteristic,including the dissemination of horizontal and vertical spread,the phenomenon that the culture of poverty transmitting in turn passed through the old generation to the young generation,was called intergenerational transmission of the poverty culture,by Lewis.Poverty has a broad and narrow sense,is relativity and variability,not easy to define,so the paper took the poor families as research subjects,that below the urban minimum living standard.Analyze the external manifestations of this population and the ideas inherent in the case on the basis of interviews,explain the intergenerational transmission of poverty culture and its impact on children from parents’ values,family environment,social resources,social interaction model and the environment of communities etc.the last,from the micro level:poor families,the children of poor families and meso-level:communities,the government’s macroeconomic policies,put forward some suggestions and strategies on behalf of the international blockade of cultural transmission of poverty.Culture of poverty is not only restricted the poor own development,but also affect the healthy development of the next generation.Due to constraints of time,effort and personal abilities,I failed to conduct a detailed study of the poor families observe generations.This article focuses on observing the phenomenon of intergenerational transmission,provide some basis for preventing intergenerational poverty culture in a timely.Poverty is a social phenomenon,poor passing cycle of poverty generated by intergenerational poverty culture,is a major stumbling block in the process of social progress and development,the poor living in poverty culture is likely to become social instability,hinder social mobility patency.If the society class does not have a science, open flowing channel,that this society is a closed society,poor in the bottom of society either the status quo,or to resist,will inevitably lead to social unrest.Therefore,the prevention of intergenerational transmission of poverty culture and preventing the vicious cycle of poverty culture is today’s top priority.
