The Research On The British Welfare System Under The Background Of Aging Of Population

The British built the world’s first welfare state and its social welfare system developed very early and perfectly. The British has set up a multi-level social security system, so the thesis takes the British as the research object. High welfare of long term brought many problems to the British welfare system. After World War II, the aging of the population aggravated the crisis of welfare state. Faced with the aging of the population for the welfare state of shock, the British government carried out the reform of national welfare system. Our country is in the key period of the economic and social transformation. In order to protect and improve people’s livelihood better,promote the steady development of economic construction, constantly improving the construction of social security is becoming more and more important. The development of China’s welfare system is necessary to learn from the advanced experience of Britain’s social security system reform.First of all, this thesis discussed the meaning of population aging, the present situation and the trend of population aging in Britain. Then it introduces the related content of the British welfare system, including the theoretical basis of establishing the British welfare system, the origin and the establishment of the British welfare system. Then, the thesis describes the impact of the British welfare state which the population aging caused. Next is the focus of this paper. In view of the impact of population aging on the British welfare system, the UK government has reformed its welfare system in order to adapt to the change of institutional environment. Finally,the thesis summarize the inspiration of the development of China’s welfare system.The research method of this paper is historical analysis, comparative study and case analysis. On one hand, the article uses the historical analysis to study the origin and establishment of the British welfare system, and the evolution of the British welfare system. On the other hand, the paper analyzes the evolution of British welfare system by comparison, and the reform measures and the effect of the government for the welfare system. Through the case analysis, under the understanding and researchof the typical social welfare system and policy in Britain, we can get the experience and inspiration that can be used for our country’s social welfare.
