Study On The Ecological Civilization Construction Of The Socialism With Chinese Characteristics

The 18 th CPC National Congress has brought ecological civilization construction into the five-in-one overall layout of the socialist cause in Chinese characteristics, and clearly determined to put forward the ecological civilization construction, to strive to build a beautiful China and to achieve a sustainable development. This means that we have deepened the understanding of the law of development of mankind, socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the CPC ruling pattern. Also, it reflects the high responsibility of CPC on the future of our nation and the determination to enhance the ecological civilization construction.Civilization is a concept which could reflect the degree of development of mankind. Civilization is opposed to barbarity, and is marked by social progress. It is the action brought by human activity to change the world, and it will bring wellbeing to mankind. Civilization is composed of material civilization, spiritual civilization, political civilization and ecological civilization.Ecological civilization is the extent of civilization which mankind can reach when they deal with the relationship between nature and themselves. It is in comparison to material civilization, spiritual civilization and political civilization. Though ecological civilization is the extent of civilization, it is a comprehensive concept of civilization. Because ecological civilization is not only relevant to the relationship between mankind and nature, but it also concerns the relationship between man and society. It is not only an economical problem, but also a political, cultural, social problem. And the degree of the whole social civilization of development also reflects the degree of consciousness in the concept of the establishment of ecological civilization and ecological civilization.The important features of ecological civilization include: the idea of harmony between man and nature; the scientific development model of economic development; a more fair and reasonable social system.Although the founders of the Marxism did not explicitly put forward the concept of ecological civilization, but their criticism to the capitalist society tells us that the capitalist system cannot ultimately solve the ecological problems. Only socialism can provide the necessary theory basis and found the system of the the construction of ecological civilization.During the time of Marx and Engels, the ecological problem is not as serious as it is today, but their wonderful comments on the relationship between mankind and nature still provide very valuable thought resources for today’s construction of ecological civilization. Ecological thought of Marx and Engels mainly has the following aspects: man is an objective existence; man is an existence of passivity; nature is man’s inorganic body; man’s practical activities should follow two scales; the capitalist mode of production is the main source of ecological crisis etc.The construction of ecological civilization is the inevitable requirement of the socialism with Chinese characteristics. The report of the 18 th CPC National Congress summarized the inevitable requirement: the construction of Ecological Civilization is relevant to the people’s well-being; the construction of ecological civilization is related to the sustainable development of the Chinese nation; the construction of ecological civilization is related to the overall layout of the socialist cause in Chinese characteristics; the construction of ecological civilization is conducive to promoting the all-round development of man.We say that the ecological civilization is the proper meaning of Chinese socialism, does not mean that the socialist society do not have ecological problems. On the contrary, our country is faced with a series of ecological problems. There is an urgent need for the construction of ecological civilization.The contradiction between economic development and ecological environment protection is obvious: the resource constraints the development; environment continued to deteriorate; the extensive mode of economic development caused the destruction of the environment; institutional construction is not perfect etc.Development concept is the embodiment of world view concept and value concept. The construction of ecological civilization is not in place, because the understanding is not correct. Misunderstandings include: the human centered view of nature; one-sided concept of development and the wrong view of achievements; environmental pollution as the price of developent; hedonism consumption concept, and so on.Ecological civilization should be focused on practice and construction. The construction of ecological civilization cannot be done in isolation, but must be combined with the economic, political, cultural, social construction. The specific route should be as follows: the transformation of the mode of economic development; the integration of political coordination with Chinese characteristics; focusing on the ecological civilization education and improving citizens’ ecological consciousness; bringing the concept of ecological civilization into the daily life of the people.
