| Crime, comes into being with the development of social contradictions, which threatens severely social harmony and stability. Therefore, our ancient thinkers focus their attention on the problem of how to control crime properly to provide a necessary support for the stability of social order. This paper expounds in detail the historical vicissitude of crime control theory, legions of crime control measures, the characteristics of crime control theory in ancient world, and their references to the plan of building socialistic harmonious society in China today.Apart from the introduction and the conclusion, the contents of this paper consist of four parts.The first part introduces the early formation and the historical vicissitude of crime control theory in ancient world. The paper starts with some generalities of crime control formation in ancient times; and then analyzes its development in chronological order, represents the venation of historical development of crime control theory in ancient world.The second part presents the crime control measures taken by feudal rulers under the influence of crime control theory in ancient world. Among them, the perspectives of family ethics, the household registration system, Baojia system, interlink assurance system and patriarchal system are the highlight of this part. Also the social effects are discussed with those measurements. While being affected and restricted by historical conditions and social environment, those measures have their own limitations and reasonable kernel.The third part elaborates the characteristics of ancient crime control from the option of cut point, route and target. Though there are so many exponents of ancient crime control, and it occurs over a long time span, its distinctive characteristics isn’t hard to find through a careful analysis. Through the discussion of characteristics of crime control, this part lays a foundation for the forth part.The forth part, based on practicalities of establishing concordant society and the realities of concordant society, discusses the impact of ancient crime control theory on contemporary society from different ways. After presentation of the above three parts, including the venation of historical development, the definite control steps, and the characteristics of ancient crime control, we have become attuned to ancient crime control theory, and then discuss how to combine its positive factors with the present social practices of our country and play a major role in the establishment of harmonic society. |
