Research On Social Control Theory Of Su Xun

During the reign of the third emperor of the Northern Song Dynasty which suxun lived in, the dynasty became weaker and weaker on financial, bureaucracy and military. Due to scholars were very concerned about the dynasty situation and therefore they wished for solving these problems by providing advices in book form. Su Xun was one of scholars too.Firstly, in order to solve current situation of Song dynasty, Su Xun dig core of social issue in philosophy. In Su’s mind, everything came from “dao”. And only few of people could realize what “dao” is, Su called them the “Saint”. Su believed that there is no different in good and evil between nature and disposition. And he reclaimed that we should review them equally in survey. Similarly, he reviewed justice and benefits in same attitude.Secondly, I research on target of Su Xun’s social control theory. Su wished for making a peaceful society by his social control theory. In order to making this peaceful society, the plan of Su was constituted of three parts — monarch centralization, ethical intervention and soldier-peasant land system.Thirdly, I analyze Su Xun’s social control theory in detail and divide the system to two parts. One hand, Su strengthened bureaucracy management, especially on selecting generals, prime ministers and secret minister. On the other hand, Su believed that the most effective way of controlling citizen was by confucian books, such as <shi>,<li>,<yi>.
