The Choice Of The Chinese Characteristics Modernization System Under The View Of Chinese And Western Civilization

Civilization has a wide variety of concepts, as well as theories of civilization. From Toynbee’s perspective, civilization is a group of people who has space-time association which includes three aspects of politics, economy and culture. The "culture" is the quintessence of civilization; the religious is the most profound basis in the morphology of civilization. What have said in Toynbee’s " Morphology of history "is that all kinds of civilization would undergo a process of " emergence, developing, decline, and disintegration" under the mode of "facing and accepting challenges". On this basis, this article will explore the problem of choice of Chinese modernization system with the clue of the correlation of culture and system.At the beginning of each kind civilization, both of them are confined to their own natural environment; and the influences derived from those circumstances all have continued. However, it is not the single factor that will confine the civilization, its developing dependents on its own "accepting challenges" ability. From ancient Greek civilization to modern Christianity civilization, the Western civilization has succeeded accepting the countless challenges. However, with the challenges of Western Christianity civilization, the Chinese civilization which has Confusion roots lacks some kind of mechanism for self-renewing, fails to convert from the traditional conceptions to the modern ones and continues to deal with the risks and challenges with the traditional cultural-mentality, and finally goes to decline.Culture is the quintessence of civilization; and system is an important pledge for civilization to succeed in accepting the challenges. Therefore, it’s essential to analyze the correlation of culture and system. The correlation is not notably termed as causal relationship:culture provides great soil for systems to take roots and germinate; systems create great "trail-errors" conditions for flourishing culture and developing civilization.Therefore, the choice of Chinese modern system need to deal with the intricate relationship, otherwise, we will encounter many difficulties in choosing and constituting the system. When we analyze this theme, we should not only avoid sinking into the modes of "cultural determinism" and "system determinism", but deal with the correlation between ancient culture and system constitution. Only when the culture needs our own requirements on which the embedded system comes into being may the system offer divergent means of trial and error on accepting new challenges in new periods for Chinese civilization.
