Crime is a kind of social fact that objectively exists. There are different types of criminal activity in every stage of human history, which were endangering people’s life and property. Prison,as a punishment execution place is in charge of the punishment of crime and reforming prisoners. Among education and correction measures in prison, vocational skills training of inmates intends to promote socialization of inmates, and can improve the employment of released prisoners. It is also an effective measure to reduce recidivism. The west world has certain theories based on research on the function of the inmates vocational skills, training content and training method, and attaches great importance to the adult education theory and professional participating in prison reformation too. At present, Chinese scholars, who are researching on inmates vocational skills training, suggested that insufficient financial security, training programs, teachers weakness, backward teaching conditions, short training schedule are the main problems in the vocational skills training of inmates. However our research on the correctional education mostly focus on socialization, the ideological and political education of inmates. Unfortunately, most of our researchers ignored technical education of inmates. At the same time, most existing study gave priority to research from the perspective of law, criminology and management, and less is from the view of pedagogy. The paper researches on inmates vocational skills training and related issues in China, and mainly adopts the questionnaire survey method, literature method and comparison method. The main contents of this paper are: present situation and existing problems of inmates vocational skills training; influence factors of the inmates vocational skills training; countermeasures and thinking of inmates vocational skills training in China from the adult education perspective. The main research conclusions of this paper are: through the literature analysis and empirical research, this paper concludes the current defects in the inmates vocational skills training in China; Analyzed the internal and external factors which are influencing the inmates vocational skills training in China; According to these factors, put forward the improvement suggestions from the perspective of theory of adult education. The innovations of this paper are on the research methods and this paper uses thequestionnaire investigation and provides a data support for related theoretical research. On the research content, this paper considers the external environmental factors and inmates internal factors and expands the existing research focus. On the research point of view, this paper discusses the improvement strategy of inmates vocational skills training from the emerging adult education theory. On one hand, it provides a new theoretical perspective for the inmates education transformation problem and on the other hand, it is a new opportunity for us to study on prison reform education problems and expanded the research category of adult education in our country. The deficiencies of this paper are: Firstly, there are improvements on the questionnaire survey and data analysis.Due to my limited time and energy, this paper only focuses on cross section analysis. If data from past years on the condition of the inmates vocational skills training is used and probe more into its development tendency, the results will be more convincing. Secondly, in terms of countermeasure, analysis can also be further used to explore the theory of adult education in prison education reform in the process of practical application, this paper deals in the theoretical level, if could it can be further research on survey research and experimental research.
