Along with the accelerated aging process in China, there is a rising trend in the number of old people in China, the traditional family support has been unable to meet the needs of older persons, we are urged to change our change traditional ideas and explore new pension pattern. After entering the 21st century, a wide variety of new pension pattern emerged, however what kind of pattern is the best fit for the needs of social development? What pattern is best suited to actual conditions of Puyang City? In this paper, we explore the details of this issue.In the course of writing this article, we mainly using field survey, literature review, interviews and other research methods. After reading a lot of literature, we understand the variety of pension pattern in China, take other factors into consideration such as regional economic development, geographical location, cultural traditions, we analyze the development situation of the three mainstream pattern in Puyang.Based on the survey in Puyang city, we introduce the three mainstream pension patterns at this stage:family pension, community pension and agency pension. On the basis of a comprehensive analysis, combined with the specific conditions of Puyang area, the advantages and differences of the three patterns has been compared. By comparison, community pension show obvious comprehensive advantages in today’s mainstream pension model for both easing the pressure of the family and the defects of institutions for old age. Although limited by the level of economic development today’s, development of community pension faces many difficulties and obstacles, but on the whole, community pension is still feasible, Puyang city should focus on this pattern more.
