The Shape Of The Intellectual’s Labor Concept At Early Days Of New China

At the beginning of the new regime was founded, in terms of the intellectuals from the old China, Chinese Communist Party(CCP) has carried out an ideological remolding movement, putting the policy of the "unity, education and reform" towards them into practice. In the process of ideological remolding, CCP has noticed the importance of letting the intellectuals participate in social practice."Productive labor is the fundamental characteristic of human, and is the most basic practice activity of human". Mao Zedong also stressed:"The most basic practical activity of human beings is the producing activity." In order to cultivate the intellectuals the feelings of love of labor and love of the working people, and to help the intellectuals recognize the real value of labor, Communist Party leaders, with Mao Zedong as dominating figure, attempted to ultimately break the traditional pattern that manual labor and mental labor were separated from each other, on the basis of labor practice, making the combination of using brains and using labor, and the combination of knowledge and labor come true. The land reform movement in the early days of new China provided an opportunity for the intellectuals to participate in labor practice. Through letting the intellectuals participate in land reform, it made the intellectuals recognize that the working people are the creators of history. Thereby it made the intellectuals set up the viewpoint of labor, and the viewpoint of serving the people, and walk on the road of "combining themselves with the workers and peasants", and realized the proletarianization of the intellectuals. The aim to emphasize the remolding and cultivating role of labor on the intellectuals, was to make the intellectuals understand the working people, familiarize themselves with the life, work and thought of the working people, and to change the intellectuals of their habits of divorcing from the reality and the working people. Cultivating the intellectuals the feelings for the working people through specific labor practice, it made the integration of the intellectuals themselves with the working people come true, and eventually eliminated the difference of mental labor and physical labor. Through shaping the labor concept of the intellectuals, it made the intellectuals ultimately accept the guiding role of Marxism in ideology, criticize the ideology of the old and realize their own proletarianization and the identification with their state.
