East Asia Policy is an essential part of America Foreign Policy, and the adjustment of America’s foreign policy always attracts attention from the whole world. In the past few years, the United States has experienced one of the most serious financial crises, which led to a new round of slumping economy in the US. Both the American government and the people need a new economic growth point. Meanwhile, the anti-terrorism war started by former President George W. Bush in the Middle East has lasted for too long, and brought great pressure to the United States in the prospects of human resource and finance. Under this context, President Barack Obama decided to adjust America’s national strategy after he was in power, and that was, put the essential part of the national strategy to the east part of Asia. This adjustment reveals Obama’s inheritance to his predecessors as well as his personal creation in America’s foreign policy. To achieve this goal, the Obama administration deployed "Pivot to Asia", affixed to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, and endeavored to rebalance the power structure in East Asia, including strengthening its tie with allies like Japan and South Korea, mending its relationships with small countries in Southeast Asia like Burma and Vietnam, and constructing a new type of major country relationship with China. The first chapter defines two main concepts:East Asia and America’s East Asia Policy, following three phrases of America’s East Asia Policies after the end of Cold War. The second chapter mainly elaborates the context and content of Obama Administration’s East Asia Policy. The third chapter analyzes the causes of Obama Administration’s policy adjustment, including political, economical, and cultural factors in the United States, as well as the continuous changes of international political and economical structures. In this paper, the limitation of this policy adjustment is also analyzed. The fourth chapter concerns about the influence of Obama Administration’s East Asia Policy. After analysis, this essay draws a conclusion that the adjustment of America’s East Asia Policy during Obama’s Administration provides opportunities for states in East Asia, changes regional economical and political structure to some extent, and also brings many uncertain factors, which calls for long-term concern.
