Based on the data of China general social survey conducted in2006, this article uses the methods of description analysis, factor analysis and multiple regression analysis, describing the situation about individual social capital and Political participation of urban residents, and analyzing the impact of individual social capital upon the political participation of urban residents, including the moderating effect of community involvements in this mechanism. The study finds that the size, the density, and the top of their social network have significant positive effects on institutional political participation, and that the gap of network plays a positive role in active political participation. Furthermore, community involvements weakens the influence of network’s density and t network’s top on institutional political participation, but strengthens the influence of network’s gap on active political participation.
