In the wave of human economic and social development, crime is always one of the serious problems of modern civilization. Many scholars from different fields study the problem of urban crime, among them; the geography scholars almost research the criminal geography from space perspective. Taking the theory and method of the criminal geography in western countries and China as a reference, this research examines the feature of spatial patterns of theft crime and influential factors of theft crime at the district and street precincts level based on the data of theft crime in Fuzhou city in2012. Finally, the spatial control measures of theft crime from the urban administrative and planning perspective are given a reference. The analysis of the spatial characters of theft crime reveals that the spatial pattern of crime is obvious and the number of theft both in different districts and streets has a big difference. The spatial distribution of the density of crime shows a set of concentric circles expanding from the downtown to the suburbs and the density of theft crime follow the role of distance decay. The spatial distribution of crime also shows the distribution of crime hotspots in four districts is different; indeed, business circles, traffic hubs and plazas have high theft crime density. The findings of the relationships between the theft crime and the geo-environmental factors clarify some factors which do have relations to theft crime, such as entertainment outlets, hotels, restaurants, educational services, malls, life services, roads, populations and households; furthermore, some factors are the main contributors for density of theft crime. To a certain extent, the results will facilitate the theft crime prevention by the measures from urban administrative and planning perspective.
