Shanghai, as one of cities which started aging at the earlier time and in the most serious situation, are now stepping into the phase of intense aging. In registered population, about17.9%the elderly which over the age of65in the total population in2013. With the function of family and community pension weakening and non-professional, institutional caring for the old is becoming increasingly prominent now and thus the quality of life in these institutional arouses concerns extensively in academical and practical field.Aiming as the defects in the previous researches that most studies mainly focus on limited fields such as medicine, nursing, etc, and that most results focused on the level of quantitative analysis, this paper starting from the perspective of demography, chooses three old-aged caring institutions in Shanghai as the research objects, through participant observation of the three old-aged caring institutions, to the life quality at the old as the breakthrough point,34elderly people in these institutions are detailed interviewed by means of the qualitative research. After brief introduction of the development situation of intense aging as well as the construction situation of old-aged care institutions in FengXian District, the quality of life at elder people will be analyzed in three dimensions, the quality of daily life, the degree of health, the quality of psychological life from the perspective of demand and supply. The result shows that, the demand and supply keeps in relatively balance in normal daily life caring, but in slightly imbalance in illnesses caring and in significant imbalance in psychological mental caring. The research found that, in the factors influencing the life quality of the elderly in pension institutions makes it clear the individual influencing factors are gender, age, marital status, educational level, chronic diseases, self-care ability and the family influencing factors are family member, income and so on, while the social influencing factors are the environmental condition and personal relationship. Therefore, the strategy to promote the life quality of the elderly in pension institutions is that, through the local policy support, the upgrade and optimization of the institutional pension service system is promoted under the national’s"9073"or"9064"pension service framework. An optimization is put forward:a combination of standard service and the differentiated service in order to build a system of daily life care for the elderly in old-age care institution; a combination of grading nursing and disease rehabilitation so as to form a system of their disease care; a combination of care from family and the institution for the sake of constructing a system of the old people’s metal comfort. The approach has important theoretical and practical significance, for improving their life quality, for developing home of old-aged in a healthy and ordered way, for making aging positive and healthy.
