Research On The Choice Of Patterns For The Aged From The Aspect Of Old People’s Quality Of Life(QOL)

For today’s China, the problem of population aging is becoming increasingly serious. What’s more, the problem of supporting the elderly has always been the key factor for the governance of people’s livelihood which has attracted great attention from the society. The profound reform in the economic area has brought significant changes to China’s traditional inter-generational relations. With the continuous shrinking of the family size, the traditional family elderly support modes have suffered great impact. At the same time, the economic development and social advancement has provided possibility for the diversification of the elderly support mode. Along with the increasing of the ages, the living quality of the elderly becomes increasingly important. Therefore, the improving of the quality of life(QOL) for the elderly has become an urgent demand for the social advancement and development.There are old people in each family and everyone will grow old. The ways of elderly support is not only a problem faced by every family, but will become a challenge faced by the whole society. The importance of elderly support shall not be neglected. The economy and social development of Xuchang ranks among the top ones in Henan province. Having successively experienced the pilot phase, comprehensively promotion stage and standard development stage, Xuchang has established a communal elderly support service networking at present and entered into the relatively mature phase. The exploitation on the elderly support of Xuchang can play a positive model role for the whole Henan province or even for other areas nationwide in solving this problem. Therefore, the empirical study material for this thesis is from the practical survey on Xuchang.The thesis chooses three elderly support modes as the research objects. By combining the theoretical research and empirical research methods and qualitative research and quantitative research methods, this thesis conducts research on the elderly quality of life. Through field survey, in-depth interview and in-depth investigation, this thesis analyzes and researches on the elderly support status quo and the improvement of the elderly quality of life on the basis of identifying detailed materials. It also verifies, enriches and perfects the theories using solid evidences so as to integrate the theory and practice and create good efficiency as well as make breakthrough theoretically.This thesis explores on the research background, research significance, research ideas and research methods of the elderly support modes and puts forwards an creative opinion. Secondly, it summarizes related literature on these three elderly support modes and then makes detailed explanation on literature related with the elderly quality of life. Thirdly, it explores on the two theories that the thesis is based on: Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory and the theory of quality of life. Fourthly, the thesis not only explores and analyzes the family endowment, institution endowment and community endowment, but also conducts detailed introduction and analysis on the quality of life scale published by the World Health Organization. Then, detailed explanation of the survey objectives, survey methods and statistical approaches of the thesis are made; following which, samples of the elderly survey situations under these three elderly support modes are concluded. Finally,the thesis explores on the survey results and conducts prospect and reflection on the choosing of China’s elderly support modes.
