China’s foreign aid action enjoys great welcome from its target nations, while denounced by most western countries for its highly self-restrained principles of respecting the sovereignty of other country, never interfere the internal affairs of other country, and clear from attachment of political stings. Foreign aid training program, well known as it conveys more techniques than just knowledge, is playing an increasingly signify role in China’s foreign aid strategies and, more important, improving China’s national image, for fostering the innovation power of the target nation, and advancing the efficiency in China’s foreign aid, hence enhancing China’s soft power. Although China now owns a relatively well-grown foreign aid training program in imparting experience and technologies at the same time building a positive image, shortcomings and challenges still exist during the process. There are great necessities lying in the further research of foreign aid trainings.This paper consists four major sections:first section is about the concept of China’s foreign aid training and its means for implementation; the second is about carding the status quo of China’s foreign aid training development into three phases, each relating to China’s International situation and policies of foreign aid, in accordance with China’s foreign policies; the third section mainly focuses on case analysis of seminar for international officials, emphasizing on its impact on improving China’s national image and global influence; the last section elaborates the influence and feedbacks of China’s foreign aid trainings and reveals the operational, managerial, and economic problems and challenges of the future foreign aid trainings of China.Based on historical and document analysis, this thesis discusses the development of China’s foreign aid training. The data analysis and field investigation method is adopted when analyzing the status quo and future challenges of foreign aid training development. Case analysis method is used on further investigation of seminar for international officials training program.Since the former research of China’s foreign aid mainly lies on economy and construction, lacking relevant research on trainings, especially seminars for international officials, this paper mainly focus on the case study of international officials’seminar. Besides, this paper traced the beginning year of foreign aid training back to1950, instead of prevalently accepted1953. Collection of first-hand data and analysis, creative researching method were adopted when collating data.The lack of supporting documents holds back the research, as there are fewer findings in the field of foreign aid trainings, and very few researches on international official’s seminars, great obstacle lies when collecting information. Also, since a number of data analysis and field interview was carried out, with time limitation, the possibility of deficiency of data may occur.
